NFT stands for "Nutrient Film Technique". A thin film of nutrient solution flows between the roots of your plants providing them with all the elements they need. The only substrate used is the one in which the plants were prepared: it is the so-called bare root technique. In Nutriculture NFT systems the nutrient solution is contained in a tank. Your plants rest on a tray or "channel" placed over the tank. The nutrient solution is pumped up the "channel" and then flows over the roots of your plants. The unused nutrient solution falls back into the tank ready to flow back over the roots. A constant supply of water and nutrients to the roots combined with unlimited access to oxygen means being able to count on a yield up to 4 times greater than that obtained with traditional soil cultivation.
