The differences between active and passive hydroponic systems

The Platinium Hydrostar 80 drip hydroponic system is an active hydroponic system .

In this growing method, the nutrient solution, inserted into the tank, passes through small tubes through the action of a pump. Using a dripper, which regulates the quantity, the nourishment finally reaches the individual plants.

Compared to the other innovative active hydroponic technique " Wilma Tank ", Platinium has also introduced a new oxygenation technique to avoid the formation of mold, further perfecting the active hydroponic system .

The passive hydroponic system , on the other hand, is a different technique, based on the hydroponic self-watering method without electricity .

The nutrient solution reaches the roots directly, because the nourishment automatically accumulates on the base of the pots without the use of immersion pumps. Or - as in hydroponic DWC ( Deep Water Culture ) - the plants have their roots immersed directly in the water, where the nutrient solution is already found.

Passive systems are certainly less expensive but are completely devoid of automation, which, however, is an element that greatly simplifies and speeds up growing in active hydroponic systems. Therefore, the latter are preferable and advisable for a more abundant and rapid production.
